Meeco Products for your Fireplace

I finally fired up my gas log fireplace the other night when we had freezing temperatures in San Antonio. And if you are doing the same thing – well this article is for you. Meeco makes products especially for cleaning and restoring your fireplace whether it is a real-wood fireplace, a gas-log fireplace. or a wood-burning stove. My gas logs worked fine. They just looked old and dirty, so I used Meeco Gas Log Cleaner. To clean your gas logs, turn off the gas to your logs, and then spray Meeco Masonry and Gas Log Cleaner directly on to hot gas logs at the site of the soot buildup. It will remove dirt and grease from the logs and can also be used on all kinds of masonry surfaces.

If you have a wood stove or a fireplace insert with glass doors, use Meeco Glass Cleaner that will safely removes smoke, soot, dirt and baked-on creosote and tar deposits from the glass. On your cool glass door spray Meeco Glass Cleaner and then wipe clean with a paper towel. If you have heavy buildup you should spray on and let soak for a few minutes. Then spray again and scrub with a non-abrasive pad. Do Not Let Cleaner Dry on Glass!!
In a wood-burning fireplace soot and creosote can buildup in the walls of the flue. Creo Shot is a plastic tube that you toss into a brisk fire and let burn for at least five minutes. It is completely safe because your hands never touch the product.
If you have some missing mortar or if a brick has come loose from your fireplace, use the Furnace Cement to replace your mortar and brick. It comes in a caulking tube or a quart tub. Clean the area first and dampen with a sponge and then apply the mortar and let dry for 24 hours before starting another fire. Meeco also makes all kinds of polish for wood stoves, and my favorite…Color Glow Flames. Color Glow Flames are little pine cones that add bright color to your fireplace or campfire. Your kids or grandkids will love them!
Now to some great email…..
Question: Trudy, I have a stain on a carpet that is a mystery to me. I used a couple of things but the stain keeps coming back after a while. Why is that? It looks as if it might be some kind of oil stain but I am not sure, do you have any idea of how I can get it clean?
Answer: The reason that the stain keeps coming back is that the oil and dirt are still at the bottom of the carpet backing and even though you cleaned the top of the carpet. When someone steps on that spot it brings the stain right back up to the top. Use Tech to clean with. It’s the best carpet spot remover on the market. Saturate the stain and use a plastic putty knife to scrape across the stain all the way down to the carpet backing. This will pull the stain that is on the bottom of the carpet to the top. Then blot with a white towel. Let the carpet dry. If there is still a shadow, repeat the cleaning process.

Question: I have Saltillo tile flooring that I really like, however it looks dull and is not as deep in color as it used to be. What should I clean it with and is there something that I can mop on that will make it shiny again?
Answer: Clean the floors with Quick Shine Floor Cleaner, and then rinse with clear water. After the floors have dried, use Quick Shine Floor Finish. It will provide a beautiful shine with just one coat. You can use Quick Shine on laminate, tile, wood, or on any sealed floor that you want to shine. The more coats that you apply, the deeper the shine will be. Let dry between coats about 20 minutes. Quick Shine has a floor care kit that comes with a Quick Shine Floor Mop and a bottle of Quick Shine. You never have to strip off Quick Shine because it’s a polymer finish not a wax so when it’s not as shiny as it was, you just apply another coat. Simple!
