Spruce Up Your Leather
Go to anyone’s home, and if they have a leather sofa or leather chairs, they will tell you they have had them for years. I think that is for a couple of reasons. For one, a quality leather sofa is not light on the pocketbook, and two, ask anyone and they will tell you how comfortable their leather sofa is. Plus, in the decorating sense, leather furniture is timeless. So, if you have a leather sofa or chair, what is the best way to take care of it?
I have Dad’s leather chairs that were in his office, and they are old, real old. But there is no way I am getting rid of them! Do you have pieces like that? I can have a bad day, sit in those chairs, have a conversation with my Dad, and things don’t look as bad as I think. So, I want to take real good care of them.
I used to use Leather Only to clean them, and if your leather just needs cleaning, that is the perfect product. But what if your leather is getting older and starting to show some age? You need to use a product made by Howard’s called Leather Salve.
Howard’s makes wonderful products for wood, so when they told me about a product for leather, I was a little skeptical. I mean they know all about wood, but leather?
They gave me a sample, and I carefully tried it on the back of one of dad’s chairs, and I was thrilled. Someone had used a cleaner that left white marks on the back, and I could not remove them. But I used Leather Salve, and it removed the white marks and brought back the color of the chair. I put one coat on, and then later put on another coat, and it really brought back the original color of the chair, which was deep burgundy.
Leather Salve is a deep, penetrating conditioner that will help revive old leather and protect new leather. It covers surface scratches and prevents future decay. It easily restores dry leather to its soft, natural condition. It prolongs the life of leather furniture, purses, boots, bags, hats, shoes, gloves, apparel, autos, tack, and saddles.
It’s easy to use. Just ensure your leather is free from dust and dirt. Test on an inconspicuous spot for colorfastness. Using a soft cloth, apply salve evenly, working in a circular motion. After massaging into the leather, allow to penetrate at least one hour before buffing with a clean, soft cloth. Use sparingly, but often. This product is proudly made in the USA!

Question: We have a country home and it has a septic system. There was a product that we used to hear your dad talk about, but I can’t find the article. Do you remember what product it was?
Answer: I sure do. It’s called One Flush, and it’s so easy to use and very economical. It’s has billions (9.7 billion to be exact) of enzymes that help break down solids in your septic. You simply flush one packet a month in your toilet and forget it for another month.
Question: Since we have been stuck at home, I promised my mom I would help her clean her chandeliers. What is the easiest way to do clean?
Answer: Hagerty Chandelier Cleaner is safe to use on chandeliers. It will not harm metals. Place plastic and newspaper underneath the fixture and spray with Hagerty. Let it drip down on the plastic below. There is no reason to polish each crystal when Hagerty will dry crystal clear. One customer told me that instead of placing plastic down on the table below the chandelier, she attached an umbrella that caught all the drips. I thought that was clever!
Question: I bought a wood antique cabinet on- line. The cabinet is in good shape however it is so dirty. I don’t want to use anything too strong and I was wondering what you would suggest.
Answer: Howards Clean-A-Finish effectively cleans all surfaces using natural soaps. It will remove dirt and wax build-up on furniture, antiques, cabinets. It’s even safe to use on painted surfaces. Spray on a soft cloth and rub in a circular motion. Wipe clean with a soft cloth and follow up with Howards Feed-N-Wax.
