The Big Heat

When I was at the Do It Best Hardware Show in October, I looked at personal heaters making sure I was telling you about the best heater I could find. I looked at inexpensive ones, that would retail for less than $30 but unless you were holding them in your lap they wouldn’t keep you warm, and they would not last for years. I tried the expensive ones, and yes they did a good job but why throw away money? Bottom line there is still no heater that does as well for the money as The Big Heat made by Broan. Broan has made these heaters for at least 15 years, and I have some customers that keep them for 10 years. The Big Heat is a powerful 1500 watt so it will heat up a room fast, but it has a 1200 watt economy setting once the room is warm. You can set The Big Heat on high, or low for the fan speed and it has a built in thermostat control. It has a safety feature that when tipped over it will immediately shut off so you never have to worry. The Big Heat is a compact 6” x 6” that weighs only 4 lbs and is easy to transport from room to room with the built in handle on top. One year during one of the coldest winters my central unit pooped out on me. My daughter and I could have gone to Mom and Dad’s house but I got out 2 Big Heats and put them both in the den and then 30 minutes before we went to bed I stuck one up in the bedroom and closed the door, we slept nice and toasty and got dressed in a warm bath and dressing area. They really kept us warm until the new unit was installed. The Big Heat will retail for 74.99 and we are getting 144 of them in- I think it’s a great present for your parents, or kids off at college, or maybe just for you to keep your toes warm this winter.

I just wanted to say how grateful I am for your support as I write this article. Your constant encouragement has been so supportive. From all my family to yours, please have a blessed Thanksgiving Day!

Question: Our garage door is very loud with popping noises and squeaking when you open or close. What do you recommend to lubricate the tracks?

Answer: The best lubricate for garage doors is Tri Flow. Tri Flow is like liquid ball bearing in a spray bottle. Clean out all the old grease in the rails and then spray every moving part on the track, rails and wheels. Tri Flow is better than other lubricates because it doesn’t attract dust and cause your track to gum up again. You can use Tri Flow on door hinges, sliding glass doors, mirror doors any place where you need a deep lubrication on bearings, chains and cables.

Question: Would the Holy Cow Concentrate be all right to use on my Stainless Steel cookware to remove grease residue around the pot edges? In the past I used a product that is no longer made. The product I used required no scrubbing.

Answer: I am sure the Holy Cow Concentrate would be safe. It is great at dissolving grease full strength, but it can be diluted and used on many other surfaces. I like Holy Cow products because they are eco-friendly, but really are tough cleaners. Priced right too!

Question: I have travertine tile in the bathroom and red fingernail polish got everywhere. How in the world do I get out the polish without damaging the tile? And it’s in the grout area too? Help!

Answer: Use acetone to remove the red polish from the tile by taking a cotton ball soaked and let it sit on the tile and then wipe towards the polish not smearing it out farther on the tile. Then get as much as you can out of the grout that will be the challenging part and possibly might leave a stain. So to cover up the stain on the grout use a Grout Aid Pen. Grout Aid Pens come in 4 colors one of them is concrete color, which looks like what you have.
