Restore A Finish & Feed and Wax

I always love when a customer will come up to me and tell me what a good result they had when they did a project using a product that we write about. When kitchen cabinets look dry, or lack the color they used to have when they were new I always recommend Restore A Finish and then Howards Feed and Wax . Cabinets that are in the kitchen get a lot of grease on them and dirty areas right around the knobs and pulls from years of use. If your cabinets have a stained wood finish and are good shape, don’t refinish those cabinets ; restore them to back to their natural beauty. The first step in getting your cabinets looking great again is to clean them to get rid of all the dirt and oil. Use the Holloway House Fine Wood Cleaner and a clean white rag and wipe the wood finish turning the rag and keeping a clean side to clean with. Once the cabinets are clean if you have discoloration in areas of the cabinets from water or sun damage, and then use the Restore A Finish to bring the color back to the cabinets without having to refinish the cabinets. If the stain looks good, just use the Feed and Wax to add deep luster back into the cabinets. Feed and Wax protects your cabinets and is made from beeswax, carnauba wax and orange oil which will enhance the depth of the grain in the wood. My daughter moved into a house that had just very inexpensive cabinets that really only had a light veneer of wood over a chip wood construction. She was sure that nothing could make them look better. But she tried the Feed and Wax and was amazed and thrilled at how good the cabinets looked. So amazed that she called me and told me “You are right Mom”, and that folks is truly a miracle!

Question: Trudy I was wondering if the Shake Away products were safe for pets? I have a small dog and I would hate for anything to happen to him.

Answer: The Shake Away Mouse Repellent is completely safe. It’s made of Rosemary, Cedar and Mint oils with are completely safe in the little packets. My dog sniffed at them and then just walked away. They are great to use on inside areas including garages, barns, sheds, RVs, cars and boats. If you need to use a repellent outside use the Shake Away Rodent Repellent . Better to repel them away from your home than use a toxic poison and then they die in the wall.

Question: I just had new hardwood floors installed and we have surge protectors around that stick out like a sour thumb. I remember you writing about a surge protector that is wood colored – was I imagining that?

Answer: No they are called Invisiplug. Invisiplug comes in 3 colors, dark, light and a cherry with optional USB connections. I like Invisiplug because it blends in with flooring or your office furniture and I had one mom tell me that her toddler ignores it now since it blends in with the flooring. All I know is that it looks so much better on my floors than those old grey ones and does not cost anymore.

Question: I was looking for liquid black stove paint for my wood stove. I don’t want a spray because the stove is inside and too heavy to carry outside to paint. Can I get some information?

Answer: Meeco makes brushable black high heat paint. Meeco does everything that you would need to refurbish your stove. They have a glass cleaner that is specially formulated to remove smoke, soot, baked on creosote for your stove or fireplace. They have a Gas Log Cleaner that will remove all soot and all you have to do is spray down your gas logs when they are hot. They also make a Fireplace Mortar to fill in on mortar joints or to reset firebrick. If you have a wood burning fireplace you can use Creo Shot to break down soot and creosote buildup. It is a plastic tube that you just drop into the fire and let it do all the work. Creo Shot is completely safe because your hands never touch the ingredients.
