Big Heat and the Thermo Cube

We have had such extreme weather in San Antonio for the last two weeks. One day it’s sunny and 70 degrees and the next day it’s rainy and 30 degrees. It’s that kind of weather that calls for The Big Heat and the Thermo Cube so that you are not caught off guard with the temperatures. I have one customer from LaVernia that just ordered 4 Thermo Cubes because he uses them in his well houses, green houses, heaters for outside animals, and block heaters for his tractors. Thermo Cubes are electrical plugs that will turn on and off with the temperature change. If the weather drops to 35, the Thermo Cube turns on what you have plugged into it (like a Big Heat) and then when the day warms up to 45, it will turn off. But you don’t have to be a rancher to benefit from the Thermo Cube. Not everyone has a green house but we all have plants that we nursed through summer and want to keep. Having a light plugged into a Thermo Cube would heat up the plants and keep them warm enough to weather the 30 degrees and then shut off then it gets warmer. The same thing applies for your animals that you bring in the garage at night. Plug a Big Heat into a Thermo Cube and if the temperature drops the heater will kick on and keep Rover toasty. Right now I am sitting and writing at my desk with a Big Heat at my feet. My desk is at the back of the store and when the warehouse doors are open it’s the Antarctic around my desk. The Big Heat is such a good personal heater and with the weather being as up and down as it is so it makes sense to use a personal heater instead of heating up the whole store or the entire house. If you have a certain cold spot in your home, The Big Heat is the answer to keeping warm.

Question: I have a question about rust. Do I have to sand off the rust before I use the Rust Cure?

Answer: You only want to knock off the flakey rust that is on the metal because you will want a smooth surface to paint on later. So sand, or use a wire brush, dust off with a tack cloth and then spray on the Rust Cure then wait a hour and wipe off the oily residue. After 5 days it will turn gun metal grey and will never rust in the area again.

Question: I have roots growing in my sewer lines. I had them cleaned out but I can tell that they are growing back because my drains are slowing down. Is there a product that is safe that I can use in my system to take care of roots?

Answer: Any product that is 99% Copper Sulfate will do the job. The product that we carry is called Root Kill. To use, put ½ pound in the toilet at night and flush, leave that toilet alone that night. Repeat the same process the next night using the rest of the 1lb container. You can use it every 6 months.

Question: I bought this little metal cabinet that I want to paint to look like wood. What paint is that and how do I apply it?

Answer: What you want it a gel stain. Gel Stains come in all different colors and you can make your metal cabinet any color that you want. Zar Gel Stain is a good stain to use. I would suggest a darker color because it will cover up any stain that is on your cabinet. Sand the cabinet lightly first, wipe off with a tack cloth and then apply the Gel Stain. Use a throw away foam brush to apply to the cabinet and a soft rag to blend in the stain. Let dry and apply a second coat. People do this all the time to metal garage doors. Then you can apply a good varnish, a couple of coats and of course sand between coats. Good project!

Question: Whenever I travel I never have enough space for my phone charger to charge at night. Is there anything that you know of that I can plug into existing outlets that would give me a extra place to charge my phone?

Answer: There is! It’s called a Plug less USB Charger by Wood. It will take any occupied outlet and turn it into a charging station.
