Being independent is a wonderful thing!
And I have a new product that I just got in from the National
Hardware Show that I went to in May that helps with that. But first
I want to tell you the story behind the product. The product is
Great Grips and is a door knob cover that will let you
open the door either with your elbow or the touch of your finger.
The product was invented by a loving granddaughter that wanted to
fulfill her grandmother’s Essie’s wishes of staying in her home.
Her grandmother was 90, and though her mind was as sharp as ever she
felt her independence slipping. A family member suggested that maybe
Essie would do better in a more accommodating place but Essie did not
want to leave the home that she raised her family in. In steps in
the granddaughter that was committed to fulfilling Essie’s wishes
and she created items that would help her grandmother with her
mobility issues. These products restored Essie’s independence, and
helped her granddaughter create a company called Stander whose
products restore independence to many families. That’s why I was

door knobs. The key hole is easily assessable, is ADA compliant and
has removable glow in the dark inserts. It will grip the door knob
and allow you to open the door with a touch of a finger, or your
elbow. Do you ever have your hands full coming in the back door and
have to set everything down just to open the door? The
door knob cover allows you to open the door with just
pressure from your elbow. If twisting a door knob is difficult
because of arthritis then the

Question: I am having condensation
build up on the inside of the glass on my windows that is dripping
down on my window frame. Can I do anything without having to call a
Answer: Absolutely! MD makes a window
insulating kit that installs easily on the inside of the window. The
kit comes with a window film that you attach to the window frame with
double stick tape that is included in the kit. Stretch it as tightly
as you can leaving a dead air space between the glass and the frame,
if you have any wrinkles in the film tighten the film up by heating
it up with a hair dryer. The film is clear and will be virtually
invisible to your eye. Any hardware store should have the product.
Question: I hope you can help me solve
a problem I am having with a white residue on one set of my sink
faucets. I have tried everything I know of to remove it including
vinegar. What should I do and then what do I seal it with?
Answer: The picture looks like hard
water deposits. To remove the bulk of the residue use a straight
edged razor blade, running it smoothly across the granite. After
that then clean the rest of the stain off with
Granite Gold Shower
and the Granite Gold Sponge. Just spray and let
it sit for a few and use the sponge to clean. After cleaning seal
the granite with
Granite Gold Sealer. Just spray the sealer
and buff dry with a soft towel.
Question: I am staining a new fence
around my yard and I was wondering if the new
Cabot Gold you
wrote about would be a good product to use.
Answer: No, the Cabot Gold is
for horizontal surfaces like a deck, or outside wood furniture. For
your fence use the
Cabot Semi Solid, or Australian Timber
. The Australian Timber Oil comes in several colors,
and you can have the
Cabot Semi Solid tinted just about any
color that you want. We are lucky in Texas we can still use an oil
based product that is great for outdoors.
